About Preferred Engineering

Preferred Engineering is dedicated to the design and manufacture of specially engineered mechanical tools and equipment to support nuclear power plant refueling and maintenance activities. Our attention has focused on providing our customers with improved tools and equipment. Each product is designed to meet your needs. Our product design goals include enhancing personnel safety, reducing exposure and reducing critical path time. Our extensive design experience has been instrumental in producing innovative solutions to eliminate or reduce specific plant problems.

We have been in business for over nineteen years and have solved hundreds of utility problems. Our success comes from innovative engineering and its application to the solutions of complex problems. We also engineer remotely operated heavy lifting devices as well as special purpose cleaning devices such as the RPV Flange and O-Ring Groove Cleaners.

Products include: Main Steam Line Plugs for MSIV testing, Stud hole plugs, remotely actuated lifting devices, O-Ring cleaners, Quik-Lok® fastening and seal systems, Refueling Tools, and many others.

Product Development

Effective solutions to nuclear plant problems demand creative design tempered by the realities of the nuclear workplace. We work closely with our customer's engineering staff to develop and manufacture products uniquely suited to solve specific problems. The solutions we design require that you, our customer, be able to easily install the product while retaining the complete assurance that the product will function as intended on the first use as well as every subsequent use.

Quality Assurance and Standards

The unique types of problems that we solve for our customers require the implementation of an effective quality assurance program. Preferred Engineering's record of strict adherence to established quality standards and industry practices have made us leaders in our field. Preferred Engineering maintains a full Nuclear Quality Assurance program and meets all the criteria of 10CFR50 Appendix B.
